Oct 5 This Week in Asheville: Oct. 5-11

Asheville’s wealth of live music, theater, and comedy offerings can leave concertgoers feeling overwhelmed when it comes to picking which shows to attend. But have no fear! The Asheville Stages staff is here to help with insights on the week’s most appealing options.

Lambrini Girls

Quickly gaining a reputation for thrilling live performances, Phoebe Lunny and Selin Macieira-Boşgelmez have revived the attitude of the 1990s American riot grrrl scene and infused it with elements of the modern British punk/post-punk movement. They're a perfect band for the moment.

Lambrini Girls won't be the only exciting British import on the bill. Drawing comparisons to their friends Sleaford Mods and IDLES, Big Special combines cutting spoken vocals with fiery instrumentals.

With up-and-coming NYC alt rock act Big Girl kicking things off, this could be one of the most loaded lineups to hit The Orange Peel all year. —Jonny Leather

Black Country, New Road

When this British band last performed at The Orange Peel in 2022, they were still in the process of adjusting to the sudden departure of original vocalist Isaac Wood. Multiple remaining ensemble members were assuming lead vocal duties, and the sextet was only performing new compositions. Returning to the downtown venue four years later, the group is fully adjusted with an excellent 2025 album, Forever Howlong, as proof. —JL

Say A Prayer To The Gods Of Getting Going, the latest batch of tunes from Ella O’Connor Williams, finds the Boston singer/songwriter further perfecting her hazy brand of indie folk. The distortion-heavy daydreams soothe without fading into the background. —JL
