This Week in Asheville: Oct. 12-18
Asheville’s wealth of live music, theater, and comedy offerings can leave concertgoers feeling overwhelmed when it comes to picking which shows to attend. But have no fear! The Asheville Stages staff is here to help with insights on the week’s most appealing options.
Horse Lords
It’s not easy to make music that’s rock-adjacent and still sound fresh, but this Baltimore-formed, Germany-based quartet has a knack for contorting songs in ways that will make your head spin. Check out Scott Bunn’s recent interview with members Andrew Bernstein and Owen Gardner for a deeper look into the band’s newest album, Demand to Be Taken to Heaven Alive! —Jonny Leather
w/ Brett Naucke + World Room
at AyurPrana Listening Room

Knocked Loose + Denzel Curry
The circle pit at this show promises to be one of the most insane experiences you can have this year. Pyrotechnics will add to the spectacle, so even if you’re not into the blistering rage of the headliners’ fierce, genre-blending rap, you’ll be entertained. —JL
w/ Superheaven + Boundaries
at Hellbender
Wednesday, Oct. 14
Doors: 4:30pm / Show: 6pm
[hardcore, metalcore, rap]

Canaries + Tanner York + Blooming
Asheville’s own Tanner York just recently signed to Merge Records and performed in MJ Lenderman’s band at Good Moon Festival. 2027 is gonna be a huge year for the lo-fi power pop singer/songwriter, but there’s still time to catch him on a smaller stage, and on a bill with a pair of up-and-coming shoegaze acts. —JL
at Static Age Records
Saturday, Oct. 17
Doors: 8pm / Show: 8:45pm
[shoegaze, power pop, indie rock]

Cor de Lux + JD Pinkus Triptych
With catchy, angular post-punk, the Kill Devil Hills quartet caught the attention of Mike Patton’s Ipecac Records. The group’s excellent new album, Year of the Horse, shows exactly why the label backed this equine. With local legend JD Pinkus’ trio also on the bill, there’s good reason to drag yourself out on a Sunday night. —JL
at Static Age Records
Sunday, Oct. 18
Doors: 8pm / Show: 8:45pm
[post-punk, psych rock]
