This Week in Asheville: March 3-9
Asheville’s wealth of live music, theater, and comedy offerings can leave concertgoers feeling overwhelmed when it comes to picking which shows to attend. But have no fear! The Asheville Stages staff is here to help with insights on the week’s most appealing options.
Doktor Kaboom!
Although he doesn’t quite have the name recognition of Bill Nye, David Epley is cut from the same cloth. The German-born North Carolinian has been entertaining crowds by making science fun for nearly two decades, and his downtown show should be a delightful event for families — unless, of course, you’re one of those anti-science freaks. —Jonny Leather

Sierra Hull
Whenever a major name plays Asheville Music Hall, it’s worth taking notice. Back in December, Drive-By Truckers’ co-frontman Patterson Hood commanded the intimate room on his solo tour, and this honey-voiced master mandolinist (and her talented band) promises to make for another memorable evening. Concluding a three-night string of NC shows, Hull will almost certainly be in top form for her stop at the downtown listening room, and in a celebratory mindset the day before the release of her new album, A Tip Toe High Wire. —Edwin Arnaudin

Lavender Blue
This Kayla Zuskin-fronted project has been a staple of the local indie rock scene for years and is celebrating the release of its latest album, The In Between. The collection is a throwback to the kind of rainy day fuzz rock that dominated college radio in the 1990s, and I’m all for it. —Jonny Leather
