This Week in Asheville: Feb. 24-March 2

Asheville’s wealth of live music, theater, and comedy offerings can leave concertgoers feeling overwhelmed when it comes to picking which shows to attend. But have no fear! The Asheville Stages staff is here to help with insights on the week’s most appealing options.

Empire Strikes Brass

It’s impossible to properly celebrate Mardi Gras without a brass band. Fortunately, this local horn ensemble has made it an annual tradition to provide the party. —Jonny Leather

Benjamin Booker

It’s surprising that this singer/songwriter from Virginia Beach isn’t performing on bigger stages at this point. After an eight-year wait, he released Lower earlier this year. Combining soulful crooning and laid back grooves with art rock flourishes, his latest album is astoundingly fresh while maintaining some retro charm. —JL

at Eulogy
Sunday, Mar. 2
Doors: 7pm / Show: 8pm
[blues rock, garage rock]

Eddie Spaghetti

Eddie “Spaghetti” Daly is best known as the frontman for The Supersuckers, a legendary band that emerged in the early ’90s as a refreshing amalgamation of punk rock, country, and classic hard rock. So, the fact that you have an opportunity to catch the cowpunk icon at an intimate space should be all the reason you need to leave your house on Sunday night. But if that’s not enough, current Supersuckers guitarist “Metal” Marty Chandler and Asheville punk quartet GÄK will also be playing sets. —JL
