Blithe + Motocrossed + Margot Texas

If you're wondering what the next wave of great Asheville bands will be, this show offers a preview. Blithe celebrates the release of its debut EP, mixing 90s-era art pop with a little emo. Joining them: Charlotte's Motocrossed, bringing shoegazy folk from just outside the local scene, and Margot Texas, a dreamy folk pop project. —Jonny Leather

The Odd Couple

On the heels of its excellent production of Rent, the State Theater of North Carolina pivots to this Neil Simon classic that promises to offer “a fresh take.” Whatever that entails will soon be discovered, but it will be carried out by such dependable players as Scott Treadway (Oscar Madison), Scott Cote (Felix Ungar), Pasquale LaCorte (Vinnie), and Glenna Grant (Cecily Pigeon) with the reliable Lisa K. Bryant directing. If you’ve somehow never been to The Rock, this is an excellent place to start. —Edwin Arnaudin
