The Hazy Hideaway Festival

The inaugural edition of Sierra Nevada's two-day music, arts, and beer festival presents a strong mix of national and local acts, with each day headlined by an artist that's a throwback to the days of Hipster Runoff. Beyond the chillwave/synthpop of Toro y Moi and Phantogram, the lineup showcases an eclectic mix of styles over the two days. It'll also be the first local performance by new project Helado Tropical, which features current Asheville resident Roberto Carlos Lange (Helado Negro) alongside Reyna Tropical (Fabi Reyna). —Jonny Leather

The Wood Brothers

Better vibes are tougher to find in a live music setting than when Oliver Wood, Chris Wood, and Jano Rix take the stage. Every year or so, the phenomenally talented trio treat us to consecutive nights at downtown’s best venue, and each time it feels like the most wholesome and energizing family reunion, to the point that their big hit, “Luckiest Man,” was seemingly written just for you. Indeed, the band likes us so much that they made it a priority to reschedule its snowed-out January shows ASAP. —Edwin Arnaudin

RIBS

The Raleigh-based band drops its new record, Cold RIBS, on Friday. With cutting, speak-sing vocals, comparisons to a Southern version of The Fall feel apt. The band's mix of post-hardcore and art punk should make for a killer live show. —JL
