This Week in Asheville: June 15-21

Asheville’s wealth of live music, theater, and comedy offerings can leave concertgoers feeling overwhelmed when it comes to picking which shows to attend. But have no fear! The Asheville Stages staff is here to help with insights on the week’s most appealing options.

Bustié

This one’s for the darker souls who prefer to dance to brooding vintage synths while obscured by shadows. —Jonny Leather

w/ Cold Choir + Corpse Dust
at Static Age Records
Monday, June 15
Doors: 8pm / Show: 9pm
[darkwave, goth, post-punk]

Bone Thugs-n-Harmony

After years of Asheville being relatively deprived of consistent worthwhile hip-hop shows, Eulogy has fixed that problem with a series of mindblowing acts that anyone would consider to be lucky to catch in such a small room. The Cleveland-based collective composed of Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, Layzie Bone, Krayzie Bone, and Flesh-n-Bone may not have the same caché as it had when “Tha Crossroads” totally dominated airwaves in the mid-1990s, but they easily sold out what’s gonna be one of the most talked about shows of 2026.  —JL

at Eulogy
Wednesday, June 17
Doors: 7pm / Show: 8pm
[hip-hop]

Josh Johnson’s Comedy Band Camp

After a brief stint writing for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the young comedian joined The Daily Show in 2017, where his star has risen steadily — stepping out of the writers' room and graduating to correspondent. The show has launched more than a few comedy superstars, and Johnson's hilarious, heartfelt approach appears destined for larger audiences. —JL

at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium
Friday, June 19
Two shows: 7pm & 10pm
[stand-up comedy]

Deakin

A decade on from his debut solo album, Sleep Cycle, the Animal Collective member finally has a follow-up in the works — and this show should offer a first taste of what's coming. —JL

w/ Tony Rolando + Sarah Louise & Her Feral Kin
at AyurPrana Listening Room
Saturday, June 20
Doors: 6pm / Show: 7pm
[indie rock, psych pop, electronic, folk]

Local Natives + Wild Nothing

Topping the lineup for Burial's 13th Anniversary celebration are two American indie rock bands that broke through with debut albums in 2010. Both have become reliable scene fixtures but haven’t ascended to the superstardom that may have been once expected. —JL

w/ Pink Beds
at Burial Forestry Camp
Saturday, June 20
Doors: 5pm / Show: 6pm
[indie rock, shoegaze]

Ovven

Owen Burton may be Nashville-based, but his debut album Gnawing At The Cord — recorded at Drop of Sun with contributions from Alex Farrar, Dave Hartley, and Clay White — is an alt-country ripper that Asheville can proudly claim as its own. Assistant engineer Seamus Rooney plays guitar in Headringer alongside fellow Drop of Sun engineer Lawson Alderson, who also plays in i26connector. It's all connected. —JL

w/ i26connector + Headringer
at Static Age Records
Saturday, June 20
Doors: 8pm / Show: 8:45pm
