This Week in Asheville: Feb. 10-16

Asheville’s wealth of live music, theater, and comedy offerings can leave concertgoers feeling overwhelmed when it comes to picking which shows to attend. But have no fear! The Asheville Stages staff is here to help with insights on the week’s most appealing options.

Joy Oladokun

The singer/songwriter has regularly made Asheville a tour stop over the years, so it’s not shocking that they’re giving back to our city with a concert benefiting the North Carolina Community Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund. —Jonny Leather

Tim Heidecker

Although better known for his extensive comedy career, including as one half of the beloved offbeat duo Tim & Eric, the Allentown, PA native has also had a lengthy music career. With a style somewhat reminiscent of Harry Nilsson or Boz Scaggs, he’s good enough to be taken seriously as a songwriter, but can also drop a song as hilarious as the Simon & Garfunkel parody “I Am A Cuck.” His Office Hours Live with Tim Heidecker podcast co-conspirer Doug Lussenhop opens. —JL

Josh Johnson

A writer on The Daily Show since 2017, the young comedian from Louisiana recently graduated up to a correspondent role on the long-running political satire series. Unsurprisingly, he’s thrived in the position, hinting at greater success ahead. With his two local performances sold out far in advance, it appears that Johnson’s already a comedy star.  —JL

Has it always been your dream to see a sax-playing bigfoot perform spirited covers of familiar dance and pop tunes? Well, then you’re in luck. Fresh off playing to the cows on Edwin’s sister’s dairy farm, this seven-foot-tall curio heads to town with support from The Get Right Band drummer Jaze Uries’ solo project. —JL
