Few bands remain active after 15 years of writing, recording, and performing, but Joywave shows no sign of slowing down. After touring extensively last year in support of its fifth studio album, Permanent Pleasure, the Rochester-based rockers are back on the road, visiting cities that didn’t fit into the first circuit.

Monday, May 19, will mark the first time Joywave has played Asheville since 2018, and it will be on the intimate stage of The Grey Eagle. Dallas-based indie rockers little image will serve as openers, then the headliners will hit the stage with their trademark energy, humor — and giant inflatable cat.

Asheville Stages recently spoke with guitarist Joey Morinelli via video chat. Check it out below and follow the instructions at the end of the video to be entered into a drawing for two free tickets to the show. The winner will be announced on Sunday, May 18.
