D’Angelo Tribute feat. Asheville’s Finest

Although he only released three albums over his distinguished career, Michael Eugene Archer made an immeasurable impact that transcended genre. The neo-soul icon’s recent passing was unexpected and shook the music industry, and an eight-piece band featuring some of the local scene’s most talented players will pay homage to his musical brilliance. —Jonny Leather

If you’ve had to endure a few less-than-enjoyable family conversations while gorging on stuffing and pumpkin pie, you could probably use a good laugh — and Modelface Comedy’s Friday night offering is just about perfect. The expressive LA–based comic has appeared alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin in Grace and Frankie, voiced Tom Servo in the latest iteration of Mystery Science Theater 3000, and co-hosted The New Negroes with beloved underground rapper Open Mike Eagle. —JL

Acoustic Syndicate’s yearly Thanksgiving Saturday show at The Grey Eagle is unfortunately on hiatus, but this local singer/songwriter continues to hold down the holiday’s weekend’s Friday slot. His warm, lived-in folk music has attracted a passionate fanbase, so if you’re looking to expand your musical family with like-minded people, this is your chance.  —Edwin Arnaudin

Amythyst Kiah

Direct from Johnson City, this gifted vocalist and multi-instrumentalist continues to come into her own as a songwriter, boldly chronicling modern Black female life and exposing various hypocrisies that she’s witnessed as a youth and adult in Tennessee. She’s already collaborated with such heavy hitters as Rhiannon Giddens and S.G. Goodman, and even bigger things seem likely. —EA
