Cayla Clark: Bout to Burst
The local comedy favorite and host of Blind Date is knocked up and getting in one last big comedy bash before the baby shows up to hijack her sleep and steal the spotlight. The Modelface Comedy event will also feature sets by Jason Reel, Sarah Love, Clay Jones, and Ryan Gordon. —Jonny Leather

Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol
This Austin-based power trio is more than just a funny name and a stack of Big Dumb Riffs. Their unpretentious metal hits hard — with thick, crunchy guitars — but it’s the pop sensibility and sly humor woven into their songs that make them truly stand out. Sweetening the pot, they’ll be joined by longtime Asheville favorites Tongues of Fire.—JL

Steel Pulse
Fifty years ago, Basil Gabbidon and David Hinds formed Steel Pulse, a band that would become a cornerstone of British roots reggae. Closely tied to the Rock Against Racism movement, Steel Pulse emerged from Birmingham’s scene with a sound and message that resonated deeply with the UK punk movement of the late ’70s. While the lineup has evolved over the years, founding vocalist/guitarist David Hinds and original keyboardist Selwyn Brown still lead the charge. Chances to see them in Asheville are few and far between — don’t miss this one. —JL

Resonance Sessions Vinyl Release Show
In October, following the devastation of hurricane Helene, musicians organized and recorded a selection of songs at the Old Marshall Jail building for a benefit album titled The Resonance Sessions. The moving collection included tunes from a wide array of artists with strong local ties, including Tyler Ramsey, Rising Appalachia, and Avey Tare. This weekend, a handful of the musicians involved will return to the Zadie’s patio at Old Marshall Jail to celebrate the vinyl release of the benefit album, which was pressed locally at Citizen Vinyl.

This Chicago-based quartet delivers the kind of indie rock that fans of Snail Mail and Frankie Cosmos will likely love. They’ll be back in town opening for Frankie Cosmos at Eulogy in September — but don’t wait until then. This bill, featuring Julie Odell and Infinitikiss, is more than worth showing up for now. —JL

Field Trip: Elvis Costello & The Imposters with Charlie Sexton
Billed as “Radio Soul! The Early Songs of Elvis Costello,” the legendary artist’s latest tour brings him to Greenville for his first area show since a 2011 stop at the Asheville Civic Center. With his band and Sexton’s highly respected guitar skills in tow, the prospect of seeing “Pump It Up,” “Radio Radio,” “(I Don't Want to Go to) Chelsea,” “(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding,” and 20some other songs from Costello’s storied first decade of recording while seated in one of the Southeast’s best concert halls is too good to pass up. —Edwin Arnaudin
