Aug 30 Review: Santiago y Los Gatos + Andrew Thelston Band + Pacifico at Pulp

Matthew Schwartz of Pacifico opened the Aug. 18 bill in the Bourbon bar located under The Orange Peel. Schwartz brought his acoustic guitar, a collection of original tunes and covers, and an infectious energy to start the evening.

Next, Andrew Thelston Band turned up the heat. I first caught them at AVLFest earlier this month, and my second time I was just as rocking— largely thanks to the powerful bass lines and stage presence of Walker Astin.

Santiago y Los Gatos, fronted by Jeff Santiago, took the baton from the openers and gave us some old fashioned rock ‘n’ roll, accented by Stephanie Barcelona’s ethereal vocals. Jayson Tomlin and David Elliot Jonson effortlessly kept the low notes in time, while Josh Chasner on lead guitar wailed on song after song.
